Shabby Wedding Card

Hey Scrappers,
I know I've posted only a very few new projects lately, but I've been just too busy to load them up. I created quiet a lot and I'm going to post more stuff in the upcoming weeks. Today I'd like to share a shabby wedding card with you. I was browsing a lot of time on Pinterest and found a super awesome designer Dorota MK. Click here to visit her blog. My project is a scraplift of one of her cards.

I used different patterned papers and cardstock in cream and light brown for a vintage look. I distressed the edged of my mat and stitched a boarder with yarn. I die cut two branches with a Sizzix die and embellished the card with withe Prima flowers. Then I cut out a scalloped heart and made a boarder with Liquid Pearls in Bisque. The heart on top is covered with crackle accents and inked up with Distress ink for an even more shabby look. I created a 3d banner by folding a long strip of paper and wrote the sentiment by hand.

I hope you like my creation and thank you so much for stopping by!

The Studio Challenge - Monochromatic

Hi Scrappers!

The last two days I had some free time, and since the weather was quiet cold outside, I decided to craft a bit. I was looking for another scrap challenge, and yesterday I found one, which is absolutely adorable! It's from The Studio Challenge and the theme is "monochromatic" (using different shades of one color). I really like that and most of my favorite layouts are quiet monochromatic. That's finally a reason to use a lot of my pink scraps :)
I chose a bw-picture for a better matching. I get inspired by Anastasia's layout and the idea of using no black color in the whole layout except for in the picture. So I took the challenge and this is what I came up with:

I spent definitely a lot of time for this lo, because I created all of these flowers just for that layout (except the two white ones, these are Prima). Finally I could use most of pink scraps for the banner beneath the picture.

I covered the edges of all the banner pieces with withe or pink stickles-glue to add a little bit of bling and shimmer. Besides, I did some hand stitching with light pink floss.

dry embossing
Another fun detail is the dry embossing technique for the butterflies. I just punched out two different butterflies of some thicker cardstock. Then I put these pieces under my paper and dry-embossed it with an embossing pen. For finishing I lightly rubbed some ink with the ink blending tool to emphasize the outlines.

Just as I said, I did all the flowers by my own for this layout using different patterned papers and cutting dies for my big shot. I inked all the edges with light pink and applied some gesso with a piece of foam to make them match. On top of that, I used some dry distressing glitter to create a frosted look (a lot of work as you can see!).

On these three pictures you can see some of the techniques I used for the background. I did some masking with stencils and molding paste, I applied some wrinkled newspaper and painted it with gesso and I used some of my glimmer mists to give the layout a bit more shimmer. Besides I did some fuzzy cutting with the two little birds.

title
For the title I used my K&Company label maker from the SMASH! series. This was just the perfect purpose to use it, since it creates withe lettering and I didn't want to use black for my layout.

This time I signed my layout with my new stamp :)
At the end, I could use my very own new stamp with the address of my blog :)
On the picture you can see my fiancé, he's sitting in the garden of his parents, doing some day-dreaming (thought he must be thinking bout me ;))

Hope you like my layout!

Mixed Media Canvas

Hey Crafters,

tonight I'd like to share a mixed media canvas with you, which is totally inspired by LuvLee Scrappin and her video tutorial on her YouTube channel. So if you have any questions, you should watch her video, too :) Her work is absolutely amazing and I love her videos and tutorials. Anyway, this is what I created :)

Finished Mixed Media Canvas #GerryvanGent

Hey Scrappers!

Today I finished - just as promised - my mixed media project from the workshop last weekend with Gerry van Gent. For the base we took a "canvas board" (don't know the exact description), and prepared the edges with some molding paste for more dimension. After heat-setting and distressing the edges, we started with the background. We used some papers from the "Lyric Collection" by Prima Marketing, as well as some Prima stamps and flowers.

I just layered some distressed paper pieces and placed my photo on top of that. I like the result, as it looks really vintage and shabby. Gerry gave us another good tip for bringing some more dimension to your projects as you can see in the close-up:

these clocks are just stamped with Archival Ink on plain cardstock and punched out with a circle punch.  After that I dry-embossed the clocks from the back with an embossing pen on a soft foam-mat (like the piercing-mat from "sew easy"). This gives you just the dimension you want. After that I fixed every clock with a few foam-squares on the layout. An easy way to create your very own embellishment!

In the last picture you can see a cute heart-lollypop. I also made this by myself; I'll explain how:
You'll need a toothpick, some paper scraps, a little paper-punch, some glue and some glitter if you like it shiny.
First punch out two small paper-pieces with your favorite punch. I like to use some small hearts or stars for the lollypops (here I used the small heart-punch from stampin' up). After that, you glue the two paper pieces together, with the toothpick in between. If you don't like glitter, you're already done, it's just that easy! If you want to get it shiny, just cover one side of the paper with some liquid glue, like glossy accents or tacky glue from Aleene's. If you don't want to have glitter anywhere else on your project, let the glue dry and cover your glitter with another layer of transparent glue like glossy accents. It will look like an epoxy-sticker.

That's it for now! I hope you like it!
