Scrap & Music - Challenge #17

Some days ago I found another challenge-blog by browsing through other people's scrap-blogs. It's  the Scrap & Music challenge blog and it provides BEAUTIFUL sketches! The twist of their challenges is about using a part of a song as title or journaling. In this case the song was "like a prayer" by Madonna. I really like this idea, and I think I'm going to join some more of their challenges in future :) Here I joined a color challenge from Sketchy Colors #191, too. It's about using white and gold in your project. So here's my inspiration for the layout:

 and that's what I created:

I'm a little bit unhappy with the colors of the picture I took of the layout, because it just couldn't catch the right colors. The white was either too grey or too yellow, or the gold is way too dark. Anyway, although this is a rather "clean" layout, I used a lot of different techniques for the background. On some spots I used golden molding paste with a mask, on some other spots I used different shades of golden embossing powder and some golden perfect pearls.

I grabbed my glittered die-cuts and gave the rose a golden finish.

I made the big filmstrip by myself out of a piece of scrap-paper and added some holes with my crop-a-dile. The gear looks like a film roll and matches quiet good with the rest of the layout.

The banner-pieces and the ticket are cut from different embossed and glittered golden papers.

The beginning of the title is written with liquid pearl color.

Thank you so much for stopping by and wishing you a fabulous weekend!

Scrap your travels - Switzerland

Hey Scrappers, during the holidays I had some more free time for being creative, so I joined another sketch challenge, this time from My Creative Sketches. Since I have a lot of pictures from our travels this year, I wanted to use one of these photos. I decided to take one from Switzerland, where we were hiking during the summer. The mountains are wonderful and we had a great time there. Here's what I created:

I used mainly two papers from the Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic collection and distressed all the edges. I applied some gesso and some molding paste on the background paper to make the front more pop and to add some contrast, since the colors of the papers are quiet similar.

these teal thickers matched just perfectly with the background and the picture.

I added here and there some tickets and travel embellishment.

I stitched down the brown paper by hand with some aqua thread.

The film strip is a die-cut from Tim Holtz. I glued an old hiking-map behind it and added some journaling on top of it.

This is the sketch my layout relies on:

Thanks for watching!

Christmas 2013 - Sketchabilities # 105

A very merry Christmas to you all!
We had a fabulous day together with the family and a great meal. Just scrapped our decorated living room in the latest sketchabilties #105. Here's my take on their beautiful sketch:

I wanted to use some classic Christmas colors (green and red) and mix it with a rather unconventional color (black/grey). I used some fine red glitter to make it even more festive. On the background I used some black gesso with a flourish mask and sprayed some glimmer green over that.

For the banner I used three different green papers and layered them. On top of them I used liquid pearls (avocado) and distress stickles (shabby shutters).

I covered the wooden snowflakes with my "lime" Maya Metallic mist and added some glittered brads.

That's their sketch #105:

Wishing all of you a merry christmas and some blessed days :)
Thanks for stopping by and have some happy holidays!

✮ Warm Winter Wishes ✮

Hey Crafters, tonight it's time for my latest work! I created this scraplifted card for my best friend for christmas . I found my inspiration one more time on Pinterest. I stamped the background with vintage photo distress ink to make it look more vintage :)

The two bigger snowflakes are made of felt with a cutting die from Tim Holtz. The smaller snowflakes are embellishment which I found in a local Home Decorating store. The paper the candy cane is glued on was once white; I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder and used distress ink afterwards.

Besides, I put this card in the SEM Decemeber challenge :)

Let's go hiking

Hey Roadies, tonight I'd like to share a new layout with you. The pictures are from one of our last hiking-trips this summer. We had a great day seeing all these beautiful waterfalls while being quiet alone in the forest. I created this layout for two challenges. The sketch is provided by ScrapFriends Challenge #20  and in the meantime I used the Challenge #5 December tic tac toe board from 1 2 3 Get Scrappy.

I had the background paper for quiet a long time in my stash and didn't know what to use it for and finally I found a theme what matches perfectly. On the background I used a lot of different techniques: painting with gesso and acrylic paint, masking, spritzing, smearing inka gold and stitching.

Here you can see the glitter alphas I used and the small fuzzy cutting I did for this project.

For the frames of the photos I used an old map, which is quiet good matching with my theme as I think. On that layout I used my first bottle cap as an embellishment. I cut out a circle of my map, glued it down and threw some clear UTEE in the cap. After heat setting I glued the bottle cap on my layout.

After having applied a layer of gesso and acrylic paint I did some masking. I took Inka Gold (in silver) and painted the embossed parts lightly with my finger. Every picture "hangs" like a painting on my layout.

Behind every picture I used some lace trim to give it a more layered look. Besides, I glued my subtitle on a piece of vellum and added some flowers. On the last detail picture you can see the stitching quiet well, too.

And that's the sketch and the tic tac toe board I used as inspiration. I used a diagonal row from the board: eyelets, baker's twine and the color green.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and it would be great if you become a follower of my blog :)

Baby's 1st Birthday Card

Hey Card-Creaters and Scrappers! Tonight I just finished a Birthday Card for a baby. His nickname is "Mischa" which means teddy in Russian and he's celebrating his first birthday. So cute! My task was create a card by adding a bear :) I think it came out quiet cute and hopefully the baby will be thinking the same way, too ;)

The sentiment on the banner is once more written by hand. The stars on the background were created by using a mask and molding paste. The teddy is a layered cut-out from Docrafts and glued on a stitched label.

What a cute fella! :)

Time for even more Christmas Cards... :)

Ho ho ho together... It's time to showcase my new Christmas Cards... :) And to add them for the Christmas Challenge from Scrapping Everyday Miracles!
Both cards are for my coworkers, the one wanted a winter landscape, the other asked me to use something soft and plushy.

And this is what I came up with:

I wrote the sentiment by hand, since I don't have any polish stamps ;) I did the icicles with some glossy accents and sprinkled some distress glitter over it while it was wet. Really like how that turned out! The cutting dies are from Marianne Design (except for the Christmas trees).

On that card I used white felt for the snowflake, to make it look even softer :)

These circles are my new christmas stamps from Joy! Crafts. Really LOOVE them! :)

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to comment if you like ;)

Sketchabilities Challenge #104

Hey Scrappers! Time for another Sketchabilities Challenge, this time the #104:
For this layout I took a picture of my living room and used bright greens and yellow as color scheme.

The butterfly is dry-embossed from the backside and then lightly covered with distress ink and inka gold

Underneath the layering of the folder tabs and the picture I used different Maya Road metallic sprays and molding paste to give it more structure. At the beginning I wanted to stitch the yellow paper on the background, but I thought that the wholes from the needle were cool, too :)

To make the banner more interesting, I put a green eyelet through every piece and used foam dots to glue them down.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! :)
