Let's make cards series Part 1: "Masculine Birthday"

Hi everyone, I've been doing a looot of fun cards during the last two weeks. I already started to create Christmas Cards, since it's not that far away. I lately fall in love with kraft cardstock, so all my card bases are made out of it. I cut a 12x12 heavy kraft cardstock into three strips that are 4 inches wide and folded them in half. This way my cards open vertically - I think that this looks great on every shelf and table :) 

So let's go ahead and let me show you what I've created! The first card is the only one which opens horizontally. It's great for every masculine celebration. I made mine for a birthday. 

I just sketched a a tie on some paper scraps and used it as a template on patterned paper. I used neutral colors to make the card more masculine. The stamp sentiment is from MFT (just love this birthday set).

I added tiny dots of liquid pearls on the ties as a finishing touch (I used the colors Garnet, Avocado and Copper). Underneath the ties I used linen twine.

On the inside of the card I used a big sentiment and heat embossed it with embossing powder in dark copper. This stamp is from the same set by MFT as the above mentioned. 

For this card I created five candles by rolling up some patterned paper. In the middle of the rolls I glued a bit of twine to make the candles more realistic. I've created a very similar one a few weeks ago for a friend of mine. 

The stamps are from MFT, too. I inked up all the edges with Distress Ink for a vintage feel and at the end, I "stitched" copper effect twine trough the holes of my card topper for some extra shine.

The next card is for all the Daddy's out there. I created my background by using texture paste by Ranger and a stencil from Hero Arts on some watercolor paper. After letting it dry, I inked it with Distress Inks and a Mini Ink Blending Tool to create a nice graduated effect. I used the colors peeled paint, peacock feathers, salty ocean, broken china and dusty concord (from top to bottom).

Before letting the ink dry I spritzed some pearlized water on top to give it a little bit of more interest. Then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment by Papermania with silver embossing powder and added a bit of ribbon. I die cut the stars with my Bigz Die "Crescent Moon & Stars" on paper which I've covered with double sided adhesive tape. After removing the protection cover, I put sprinkled fine glitter over the stars and rubbed it in with a bone folder, so that the glitter won't come off. By the way you could use this card for Father's Day, too.

Playful Balloon Card

Hi everyone, 

I have another cute card to share with you. I followed a tutorial by Karen Giron for a MFT challenge to create that card (click here to see her blog and her tutorial).

For this card I used the Maggie Holmes 6x6 collection by Crate Paper. I just love the soft clouds with a hint of light pink for the background. I inked all the edges of the balloons after I glued them together. The butterflies are some free Printables which I printed at home on medium weight cardstock and which I cut out. You can find the butterflies here. To finish the card, I added a stamped sentiment on white cardstock, used a little bit of Stickles here and there and glued three pieces of yarn to card to create the string of the balloons. That's it!

Masculine Birthday Card

Hi Scrappers, 

I'd like to share a masculine and rather simple card with you today. I created it for the birthday of my friend Sven. 

I used textured cardstock (faux leather) for base of the card. The label was cut with my silhouette and the edges were inked with Distress ink in Vintage Photo. Then I took five different coordinating and masculine paper scraps to create the candles. I just rolled them up and glued a piece of yarn in the middle of the paper roll. To finish the card, I added a handwritten sentiment with two screw brads and and bakers twine in copper for a completed look.

Family and Friends February - Birthday Calendar

Entschuldigt bitte diesen total verspäteten Post, ich hatte ihn erstellt aber nur gespeichert und nicht veröffentlicht. Hier ist er nun aber! Meine Version des Geburtstagskalenders für die FaF Februar Challenge. Ich habe mich hier für ein doppelseitiges Layout entschieden, welches ich an die Wand gehängt habe. 

I'm sorry for the late post for this challenge, but somehow I saved the post but didn't publish it. Anyway, here it is! The monthly theme from the Family and Friends February Challenge is a Birthday Calendar. I decided to create a doublesided layout with small tab-folders on it. 

Auf dem neutralen Hintergrund kommen die bunten aber aufeinander abgestimmten Farben gut zur Geltung. Meine Silhouette kam hier sehr viel zum Einsatz: zuerst habe ich 12 kleine Ordner aus doppelseitig gemustertem Scrappapier geplottet. Danach habe ich aus weißem Fotokarton den Titel und die einzelnen Monate aufgeklebt. Um die kleinen Ordner noch besser vom Hintergrund abzuheben, habe ich mit etwas Gesso und einem hellblauen Gelato gearbeitet. 

I took a neutral background to make the colors of the folders more pop. For this project I used my Silhouette Cameo a lot. The title and all the months are cut out with it. I played with some gesso and a light blue gelato on the background, to create a subtle background behind the small folders.

Die einzelnen Ordner habe ich dann noch mit ein paar Embellies verziert und kleine Fotohalter mit Brads angebracht, um die Ordner an der Wand geschlossen zu halten.

I embellished some of the folders with wood veneers and used tiny photo holders and brads to keep them closed. 

Und jetzt kommt der Clue: die Geburtstage selbst habe ich auf kleine Fähnchen aufgebracht. Der Name besteht aus kleinen Alphas, und das Datum (Monat + Tag) sind oben aufgestempelt. Die einzelnen Fähnchen bewahre ich dann im entsprechenden Monatsordner auf. Und damit man den aktuellen Geburtstag auch immer vor Augen hat, ist dieser ebenfalls mit einem Brad oben am Layout hinter dem Titel angebracht. Hier kann man gleich alle Fähnchen eines Monats übereinander anbringen, sodass man diese nur noch verschieben muss. Die Fähnchen werden dann monatlich gewechselt. 

And here's the thing with the birthdays: I cut out a lot of banners, where I wrote all the names with some alphas. I stamped the month and the day of birthday on the banners, too. The birthday-banners are all in the correct month-folder. Next to the title there's a tiny brad which holds the banner of the next birthday. This way, you can see the next important birthday all the time and you can change the banners monthly.

Baby's 1st Birthday Card

Hey Card-Creaters and Scrappers! Tonight I just finished a Birthday Card for a baby. His nickname is "Mischa" which means teddy in Russian and he's celebrating his first birthday. So cute! My task was create a card by adding a bear :) I think it came out quiet cute and hopefully the baby will be thinking the same way, too ;)

The sentiment on the banner is once more written by hand. The stars on the background were created by using a mask and molding paste. The teddy is a layered cut-out from Docrafts and glued on a stitched label.

What a cute fella! :)

You Rock! Birthday Card

Hello Crafters :)

Today I'd like to share a card with you, which has really unusual colors for my style. One of my coworkers just ask me If I could make a birthday card for his daughter, who's a heavy metal fan. I draw up a mind map with items and color schemes I could use. I thought of some black (of course!) and another bright color as red or green, as well as thought I'd like to use some stars, a guitar and some skulls. Anyway, this is how the card turned out:

birthday card with cute owl

Hey Scrappers :)

This week we celebrated my best friends birthday and I created a birthday card for her. Since she has the most beautiful big eyes I've ever seen, we call her our owl :D And that's the reason, why I wanted to do a card with a cute owl. This time I made the card rather clean and simple than shabby.

 

This is the inside of the card:

First I was looking for some paper with a wooden pattern, to create the background of the outside of the card. Then I punched out a scalloped circle for the owl-hole :) I cut out the owl by hand because I don't have any cutting die for my Sizzix in that shape. I looked up a template in internet. For the journaling I used some with cardstock and inked the edges with turquoises ink to make it match with the background. We have given my friend a voucher for a pair of glasses, that's why the owl wears some glasses, too :) For the front of the card I used some adhesive polkadot-ribbon to complete the design.
